We were at luck, the fire station was having a open house for kids when we passed by. We get to see it upclose the fire truck and the ambulance, the life saving tools these civil defense heroes are using. Absolutely special experience to visit an operational fire station, some more this is the Central Fire Station. Worth hopping by for a visit if you are around the area.
Has a small gallery w free entry, might be interesting for families w small children. I'd spend abt 30 min here. 1st floor covers history of SG civic defence and has life sized fire engines as well as display cases of mini ones. 2nd floor showcases current technologies.
Historical building is sitting strikingly in the center of Singapore. It has become one of the attractions here. I was able to take this photo from lyf hotel Funan, lucky!!
"Where History Echoes: Hill Street, Preserving Colonial Singapore's Essence"
During colonial times, Hill Street used to be the bustling "Orchard Road" of Singapore, a vibrant hub of activity. Today, it may seem quiet in comparison, but its historical significance remains. The Old Hill Street Police Station and Central Fire Station, located on Hill Street, were witnesses to the lively atmosphere of the past. These institutions, once central to safety and security, now stand as reminders of the area's vibrant past and the transformation of Singapore over time.

kids will love the visit! not too crowded even for weekends. short queue for photos/games, interesting talks and demo by the firefighters and medics.
Visited this building as part of a walking tour of Singapore back in March. This building is a former fire station, but is now house the Civil Defence Museum. The building itself is lovely to look at and is a nice mix of Moorish, Malay and Victorian architecture. The interleaved red and white bricks at the front of the building are especially eye-catching.
The Central Fire Station in Singapore is a historic building that was built in 1908. It was the first fire station in Singapore and served as the main fire station for the city until the 1960s. The building was designed in the Edwardian Baroque style and features a red brick façade, white stone ornamentation, and a clock tower.
The Central Fire Station was in operation until 1989 and during its operation, it was responsible for protecting the city from fires and responding to emergencies. The station was also the headquarters for the Singapore Fire Service.
After it was decommissioned, the Central Fire Station was gazetted as a national monument in 1989 and underwent restoration works in the 1990s. Today, it serves as a museum and heritage center, showcasing the history of the Singapore Fire Service and the role that the Central Fire Station played in the city's history.
It's open to public for visiting and exploring the rich heritage of firefighting in Singapore and the history of the building.
Singapore famous landmark.
This is the oldest fire station built in 1908. It's been marked as national heritage landmark in 1998 and now it's still being used.
